On its own the MTWS250 comes with a universal tool support and an adjustable angle guide, which is all you need for straight-edged gear like chisels and plane blades. The moment you put a kitchen knife, a pair of garden shears or an axe head on it, you need something to hold the work square to the stone at a fixed angle — that is exactly what the MTWS250-JIG 5 piece jig set does. Freehanding those tools on a wet wheel is how you round an edge and lose the bevel.
